Vicar

On 12 September, the Revd David Swales became our new Vicar. David is aged 42 and was previously Vicar of Christ Church, Oakworth, where he had been since 1992. He is also the Diocesan Healing Adviser. On arriving here, David said, 'I feel excited about coming to Bolton to join with a very faithful congregation who are eager to meet the challenges of the 21st century.' David originally read English and European Literature at Warwick University where he also became a Christian. He was Assistant Warden at St George's Crypt in Leeds for two years before ordination training at Cranmer Hall, Durham. He served his curacies in Birkenhead and at St Luke's, Eccleshill in Bradford. David is married to Kim, a nurse, and they have three children: Hannah (14), Joe (11) and Eddie (10).
